badgeThe 2nd annual Newton Stewart Traditional Music Festival, co-sponsored by Merrick Real Estate, was held over the weekend of the 10th-12th July 2015 and was a great success.

The varied programme involving performances from leading musicians, song and tune sessions, piping displays and interactive workshops was attended enthusiastically by local Galloway people and those who had travelled from far and wide to participate in the musical extravaganza.

The headline performance on the Saturday evening was the Máirtín O’Connor Band, where the three musicians have built a formidable musical relationship through performing together frequently and collaborating in the studio through their ground-breaking ‘Road West’ album and the ‘Rain of Light’ recording.

Mark Norris, Managing Director of Merrick said “ We are delighted to have co-sponsored this fantastic event which showcases so much of Scotland’s traditional music roots, relationships and talent, and we look forward to continuing our association in 2016.”
