Merrick continues its sponsorship of Traditional Music & Dance Festival

Merrick was delighted to continue its association with the Newton Stewart & Minnigaff Music Traditional and Dance Festival as a co-sponsor of one of Galloway’s annual arts and music annual highlights.

After months of planning, preparation and incredible work from the volunteer Board of Trustees of Trad Music Trust, the staff and team at The Vault Arts Centre and local volunteers, the 2023 Newton Stewart & Minnigaff Traditional Music & Dance Festival took place on 7th-9th July.

‘Event of the Year’ finalists at the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards last year, this year’s programme packed another almighty punch with concerts, workshops, sessions, Highland dancing competition and solo piping competition featuring the very best performing artists and dancers in traditional Scottish, Irish and World music & dance.

Ciarán Ryan Band, Elizabeth Davidson-Blythe and Daniel Quayle, Amy Laurenson Trio (BBC Radio Scotland’s Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2023), Flook, Jenn Butterworth and Will Pound made up a programme of incredible live music and entertainment; the very best in Scottish, Irish and World traditional music.

Nathon Jones, Festival Director commented “This was another wonderful musical gathering for South West Scotland, with amazing musicians traveling from far and wide to join us at the festival – which we have been running since 2014! We are delighted that Merrick Real Estate is continuing its association with us.”

Mark Norris, Managing Director of Merrick said “It was great to continue our sponsorship of this wonderful event which displayed such fantastic talent in a wonderful setting, and demonstrated the vibrancy of the traditional music scene in Galloway and Scotland.”
